That poem is NOT about an alcohol problem. Get over your pre-conceived thoughts about "Drinking" and see the metaphor I was trying to create. Jeeeeez.

Yay! I go home for my "Winter Break" tomorrow. Thats a week off baby! Who's laughing now? Muahahahaha. I'd rather have a bunch of breaks than have a waaay long christmas break. yea I know everyone gets a "Spring Break"....news flash: Ours is yet to come. We still get 4 days off for Easter and then another week off 5 days after that. Of course, most of you will be finishing up by then and we still have May term (like J. term, only in may). But May term is pretty fun. 3 hours of class everyday.....a lot of working at the 'ol library.....and CRAAAAAAAZZZZZZZY weekend parties. And then it's my bro's wedding and summer time. Wowzas. The year is almost over. That stinks. I like being at school. It's a lot of fun. As I'm sure you all know. A crazy, yet smart, Rockfordite once said: "Work is for people with jobs. College is for people who like to have fun." I agree. If you aren't having fun at college, then you better get going......'cause life won't get much better than this. A person who cleans your bathroom.....meals prepared for you......crazy parties.......friends surrounding you......man. I love it.

Ok, this is the last time I'll mention this....I promise. I had printed out the latest version of the poem and put it in my pocket today because I get ideas at odd times. Wouldn't you know it, I got an epiphany in the middle of Psychology today. Heres the latest version.....I don't like the "A fury of work" line, but other than that....this is the way it'll be until my conference with the prof.
Endless Cup
Featured Facades,
Tuned in and zoned out.
Zealous schemes,
Listless cohorts,
Drinking my life.
Long talks with a pillow,
And failed affairs.
Lucky days,
Rainy nights,
Drinking my life.
A fury of work,
With restless silence.
Car rides,
Cat naps,
Drinking my life.
Faces and places,
Dreams and memories,
All drowning in
An endless cup.
I had several people read my poem since i posted that and I decided to change the first line. So if you read it when it said "At a party....." read it again. I think you'll see that the poem takes on a whole new meaning....which is what I'm going for.
I also got another response to that away message:
"cause I'm carrying your baby!"
hmmmm.....so it would seem.....

Ok, I'm into the "Poetry" portion of my "Lyrical essay and Poetry" class. Problem is, I'm not good at writing poetry....In fact, I hate writing it too. But today in class, when the prof. was giving us some pointers on how to not suck at writing poetry, I got an idea for a poem. I probably should have been taking notes or something, but I was bored and it's a 1 hour and 45 minute class. Below is the poem thus far. It's short and it's definitely not done, but tell me what you think of it.
Endless Cup
Featured Facades,
Tuned in and zoned out,
Drinking my life.
Zealous schemes,
Listless cohorts,
Drinking my life.
Long talks with a pillow,
And failed affairs,
Drinking my life.
Faces and places,
Dreams and memories,
All drowning in
An endless cup.
I put up "Give me one good reason" on my away message and so far I've gotten:
"Because I'm hot as hell"
"Because I'm cute"
"Because I can kick your ass"
This is by far the best away message I've come up with.

Didn't get on the same bus as her. Bad? yea, 'cause I didn't get that "in." But good 'cause I was feeling reeeeeally crappy for the first part of the bus ride, so I was in nooo mood to schmooze. This weekend was good, though. My concert band (ironically, the non-touring group) went on "run-out" to a church in Elk Mound, Wisconsin. Elk Mound is like 10 minutes from Stout University and about 20 minutes from Eau Claire. Unfortunately, I didn't know that until AFTER our concert. Otherwise, I would've told Saienga and he could've heard our group.....or heard our trombone quartet that played at two churchs this morning. Either way, it would've been way cool for him to hear our groups. When else would any of you get to hear the WARTBURG Symponic band? Probably never....unless I can swing it for the group to come to Lakeville my senior year. That would be waaaay sweet. But anyways....the rest of the band went back Saturday evening, while Me, 3 other trombone players, and one Bassoon player (he is from Elk Mound and we played at his dad's churchs) stayed saturday night and chilled with the bassoonist's parents. Then we played at two very small, very rural churchs. It ws pretty fun. We got a potluck lunch out of it. Then the five of us drove the 4 hours home. In an Alero. Which is a rather small, 4-door sedan. Yes. That is five guys, averaging over 6ft tall, with 4 trombone cases, 5 garments bags holding tuxes, and 5 backpacks. In an Alero. Needless to say, it was a loooooong rough ride home. But it was really pretty fun. The stuff memories are made of. You know the situations. yah. Well......I have done absolutely no homework this weekend....and it's nearly 10. I should probably get on that, huh? Peace.
