I've seriously been thinking about getting a cell phone. Partly because I'll be in Denver next year, partly because I would like to have one set phone number while at school, but mainly because it's nearly impossible to get a hold of me during the summer. I'm never home, and my parents are never home, and we don't have voice mail or anything. So basically if you're calling our house, you're S.O.L.
In other news, and I apologize for not commenting earlier, I bought the brand new Beastie Boys album yesterday. I didn't want to analyze the songs too much, because I haven't heard a new b-boys song (excluding that crappy one "World Gone Mad") for nearly 6 years. Needless to say, it took me a while to get used to their sound and style again. Also, this is the first pure hip-hop album they've made since Paul's Boutique and actually it's very similar to Paul's Boutique in that the B-Boys use a TON of samples and sound bites. So after listening to it during all of my free time, I can now give my critique.
First of all, even though the album is all hip-hop, they still give a wide variety of styles...they even immitate the Sugar Hill Gang (rappers delight) in Triple Trouble...it's very old school, but still keep it modern. On the other hand, I don't like the number of tracks that are devoted to critiquing the U.S. and war and whatnot. The Beasties have always been vocal in their political views...but this album has really too much of it. One side note, I've noticed a lot references to Star Trek and aliens in this album (as seen in the Ch Check It Out music video).
Hello Nasty was a ground breaking Beastie Boy album, but now they've gone back to their hip-hop roots and this CD is awesome! I highly recommend picking it up. If you're one that likes to listen to the whole CD all the way through the first time, I would recommend starting with Triple Trouble (#6) and not the first song...the last songs are the best. Below are my top three fav. songs from the CD:
(In no special order)
Triple Trouble
Hey F*ck You
That's It That's All

Go out and buy the album. Enjoy it. They're back.

an update on the NYC girl....I finally called her up this evening, but she didn't answer. And there wasn't any voice mail. *sigh* I guess I'll try again tomorrow, but after that I'm going to consult my sister-in law....I'm guessing she'll tell me to abandon it. Oh well. It was still fun. Peace.

tonight I was working at SA (for the sixth straight night) when the other register suddenly crashed and the other dude working had to call the help line before he got it back and running. Meanwhile, I was having to deal with a rush of people and had something like 7 or 8 people in my line...and then I got a $100 bill, which I'm supposed to put in the safe immediatly. Well, that obviously didn't happen, 'cause I was trying to rush through all of the customers, who weren't very patient. About 10 minutes later, we finally got the other register up and running again and the store was empty again. At this point I looked down at my register and didn't see the $100 bill. Panic. Fear. Dispair. Anger. Doom. All were felt by me in that instant. But there was nothing I could do about it. The other dude didn't remember seeing me put it in the safe, and I sure as heck didnt' remember either.
Fortunately, though, when I closed down about 8 hours later, I WASN'T short $100. Thank goodness.........but we did have 3 drive-offs today. Damn hippies.
