Someone asked what my column's name is. I decided to go with "Knight Writer," a Knight being Wartburg's mascot. Is it a little lame? Is it a little trite? Yeah, but oh well. It was the best I could come up with. As for the topic of my column, I had an idea in the middle of the night a few nights ago, and I've decided to run with it...even though it really isn't the best column idea. What is it? You'll have to wait until it's published, because I'm not totally sure where it's going to go as of right now. I have until Friday at 5 p.m. to get it in....so that's what I'll be doing between the end of my noon class (1:05) and when I have to leave for band (3:30). Plenty of time!

This week has gone pretty fast, though. I have resume stuff and job searching that I REALLY NEED TO GET GOING ON this weekend, but the 2YG's two best friends are driving down from South Dakota on Friday...so you know I'm not going to get anything done. They want to hangout with me and whatnot....oh well. Plus, I have a TON of homework to do. Gaaaaaaah! So much reading and day-to-day writing, plus a column to work on....how am I ever supposed to get some CREATIVE writing done?

So classes started today. I was supposed to have 3 of my 4, but it turned out that one only is supposed to meet only on Thursday evenings for 3 hours. That course is Literature and Film, so it shouldn't be too bad...especially since it's an elective in my major. I was initially worried about having 3 of my courses on two days, and only 1 during MWF...but I think it'll be fine. Actually, right now my biggest worry is trying to think up a column idea for this week's and next week's newspaper. I'm writing on a weekly basis for the term...and the deadlines are going to be stricter and sooner now. That's why these first two issues are tough, because I have one due on Friday by 5 p.m. and then the next is due Wednesday by 9 p.m., and the rest will follow the Wed. deadline. Of course, they'll also be tough because nothing, and I mean nothing controversial has happened yet. There really isn't much to form an opinion on when classes just resumed today. Yeah. I'm struggling right now. I don't want my first column back to be crappy, especially since now I have a title for my column, and some graphic or something. The pressure is on, ladies and gentlemen, and I just hope I can meet the standards I set myself. GRRRRR!!!

The party lifestyle, huh? Yea...I definitely got that out of my system. I wasn't going to write about the party we were planning until after it happened, because I didn't want to increase the possibility of getting caught...but now it's all over and done with, so here I go!

From pretty much mid-October to the end of last semester, none of my roommates returned their beer cans, pop cans, pop bottles, beer bottles, or liquor bottles for the deposit. We had one cupboard full, plus a huge closet full. We knew that we'd have to do something soon, so the party was planned. We got $58 for the cans...at 5 cents each, so you do the math. That's a lot of cans! The money went straight towards a keg of Keystone Light, which is 57 bucks...perfect!

So, last night we hauled the keg into our bathroom and held a party...with free beer. It was great! Granted, you can get kicked off campus if you're caught with a keg in your room....and I'm pretty sure nobody is stupid enough or has (excuse the phrase) big enough balls to ever do it again....but we didn't get caught. And the keg is gone. WOOHOO!

But I'm ready do be done with parties like that for a while now. As much fun as I had, it really wasn't worth the pain I was in this morning....not to mention the awful smell in my room, due to an unfortunate puke spill onto my carpet...yuck.

I'm not saying that I'm stopping drinking....nooooo nononononono! I like beer too much for that...I'm just saying I'm going to keep it in moderation. I hope.

Alrighty, I need to work on getting my room ready for the 2YG to come by in a couple hours....it's still a little tough....but at least it doesn't smell like puke anymore!
