ah yes, the first date. Man, it's been so long since I've been on a true first date and I must say, it was great. We walked down to the Waverly Theater to the 7 p.m. showing of "Wallace and Grommit," which was actually a really good date movie. Pretty funny too. That got done pretty early, at about 8:30, but neither of us had had supper yet, so I ordered carry-out Dominos via my cell phone and we swung by there on the way back to the dorms...and then ate it back at my place. From then until just a little bit ago we pretty much hung out in the main room of our appt. She definitely got to see all shades of our roommates and their friends. Whew. After everyone got back from the bars, a bunch of soccer players came to our room and it got a little rough. That's when I decided it was time to take her home.

But it was a good night. A solid date. Laid the groundwork. Got a feel for the situation. I'm excited for tomorrow evening...we're going to hang-out again. I feel a little bad, though, because Nathan called me like 5 times tonight...but it wasn't like I was going to answer my phone while on a date. That's like the biggest no-no ever. Plus, I know he would've just been like "come to the bar. now." Or something along those lines.

Oh, and p.s. I think tonight was the first Friday night since.....I dunno...mid-August that I didn't have one drop of alcohol all day. I've been trying to be on good behavior around this girl. Swearing was kept to a minimum. Drinking has pretty much been cut away, at least in the binge-drinking sense. And I haven't touched a cig. in about 2 weeks. I think that's what I like about her. She makes me want to be different. Be better.........

Today was such a weird blur of nothingness. I was way tired all day, but not really. I had class, but it was kind of stupid. I went to work, but didn't really work. And I forgot to work on a project that's due on Monday. Dangit. And I absolutely HAVE to do it tomorrow afternoon because I have to interview staff members who will be gone otherwise. yeah. I kind of have screwed myself over on this one, no doubt. I blame Outfly. Or myself. Probably more myself. Dangit. Oh well. I have an "A" in the class right now with a whopping 102%. Hmmm....hahahaha....

In other news....

Three reasons why tonight is quite possibly the best night ever:
1. The Wild wasted those bastards from Vancouver 5-0. Any team that plays as dirty as they do deserve to lose. Plus, the Wild is an awesome team.
2. My roommate Nathan, who is supposed to be out in Denver for Wartburg West, is back in town!!!! I just saw him at the bar! It was awesome! He's going to be back all weekend! And that is also bad news, because I originally had planned on not drinking much this weekend...but I think that all just got thrown out the window.
3. This is the best news, because I HAVE A DATE ON FRIDAY! I HAVE A DATE ON FRIDAY! If you couldn't tell, I'm way pumped. Man, this weekend is going to be great!

Ok, so Outfly. I've explained it three times already (maybe only two, I guess...since I started this in NOVEMBER of 2002, so I would've already missed Outfly) Anyway, Outfly is a random day during the Fall Term, usually before Homecoming, in which we get a day off from classes. We don't know when the day is, however, until the men's cross country team gets the word from the Student Body Prez (who decided the day with the College Prez) and then the CC team runs through every dorm on every floor yelling OUTFLY! And pounding on the doors. Then we all meet at the Victory Bell, where the President comes and officially announces it Outfly. This is all before 7 a.m., mind you, and then we go to the Caf. and have breakfast served by our professers. Then we have the rest of the day off from class....Outfly officially ends at around 5 p.m.

Although it would seem that Tuesday's classes would be lost, actually Friday's classes are lost, for whatever day Oufly is called on is transferred to Friday. So I have my Tuesday and Thursday class on Thursday and Friday this week....which is sweet, because it's only one class and I'm done at 11:30.

So that's Outfly. Except this year we live with the Student Body Prez, and we knew about it at 6 a.m. So we got up, had a round of beers....had a few shots....cranked up the music....and promptly missed the festivities at the bell. I did go to the breakfast for the first time, though....and then I fell asleep for a while. We then went out for lunch....and I finally took a shower....and then Outfly was all but over for me.

Really, the day was like a Sunday for me. I knew I had to study for my Grammars test today and so I couldn't enjoy it at all. I dunno. Outfly has been lost for a while....you can read my column about it for this week here. Good thing I had such a TIMELY idea. heh. Oh well. The stupid Editor-in-Chief, who is also one of my roommates, didn't tell me I needed to write something until Wednesday evening.

And that's that. Now I have a really easy rest of the week. Booyea.

OOOOOUUUUUTTFLY!!!!!!!!!
OOOOOUUUUUTTFLY!!!!!!!!!

GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF BED AND TO THE BELL, 'CAUSE IT'S
OOOOOUUUUUTTFLY!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I got some pics for you guys. No real news to post, but I decided you'd like these. The first bunch are from the night I was an asshole to a friend (two weekends ago). I made some bad decisions, but most of these are fun pictures. In one, you'll see how out of control I was getting. The last couple are from this past weekend at a party.

This is a weird pick, yes, but it was taken because I was deciding if I should drink or not that fateful Saturday night. I chose to drink....do I regret it? Yeah, probably. If it weren't for one descision, it would've been a funny night.

This was a the very beginning of the night. I was almost under control here. That's a first-year girl one of my roommates knew. No, my arm is not around her...I just scooted close for the pick. Jeezz....

Roommate and I somehow met up at the bar. That was at like 1:30, and just the beginning of a very long night.

Did I mention I was beligerant and out of control that night? That's a poster of George W. Bush, by the way.

We found some toothpicks and thought it was funny. Maybe you had to be there.

After we realized you couldn't see just one toothpick.

This picture makes me laugh so hard. I have no idea what he's doing.

Roommate and I at someone's b-day party this past weekend. I swear that's water in the cup.

Someone called out my name. Good times.

Ah yes, another weekend completed. Suprisingly enough....or maybe not so suprising, after last weekend, I really didn't drink much at all. I mean, last night I did mix a few drinks and had a couple of beers and a couple of shots....but that was from roughly 6 to midnight....so I wasn't intoxicated by any means. I wouldn't have driven a car, but only because that would've been stupid. At any rate, I didn't drink much, but I still had a decent time.

Now there's this coming week. Hmmm...big Grammars test on Wednesday. Some interesting stuff going on in one of my Communication Arts courses....but that's about it. Oh yeah, and it's homecoming week. That's always fun. I hope a lot of last year's seniors come back to campus. That'd be pretty sweet. It always spells for a dangerous weekend because I have to play at the Homecoming worship service at 10 a.m. on Sunday...and I have always felt pretty crappy at it in the past. I'd rather that didn't happen this year.

Anyway, that's all the relevant news I have right now. Peace.

Tonight was another good night. There were parties and stuff and I drank a little, but not much. I saw a lot of people....but I don't really have any stories. I was disappointed pretty much all night because of several girl situations, but mainly because one girl didn't stop by like she said she was going to. But then, as I was sitting with the Denver Girl, who was puking profusely, I realized I was away from my room from like 9 p.m. until after midnight. Hmmmm....so really, she could've stopped by. So shortly after Denver Girl passed out in the bathroom and I made sure she was alright, I went on my merry way and took the situation into my own hands.

It's a good thing I did too, because when I finally got in her building, I ran into her walking through the hall. She had just gotten back from my room (nobody was there) and so we were able to talk for a long time again tonight. And I got her number.

Again, I can't analyze this too much...but I definitely think there's a different vibe here other than just friends. It's too early to tell, but I'll keep you informed. I do know this, though, it's not going to be a simple "fun" weekend like in the past. This will take some work. I'm up for it, though. Sometimes the chase is just as fun as the catch.
