Ok, my brother convinced me....though I wish I could've waited until I had some pictures to accompany this because it'd make it to be a bigger deal than it is...but whatever. So this week I decided to dress up every single day for no reason. Actually, it's kind of because the 2YG REALLY likes the way I look in a suit and because I wanted to see how many different outfits I could create other than just wearing my suit. So I've done it two days now and I plan on doing it two more...but probably not on Friday.

I must say, though, it sure is nice to recieve the reactions when you dress up. In case you haven't noticed, nobody in college dresses nicely, unless they have an interview or a presentation. But when you do, every person you know--and even people you don't know--greet you with a big smile. They comment on how nice you look. In general, they treat you better. So these past two days have been great (especially because the 2YG LOVES it when I dress up).

Unfortunately, there has been a casualty. I never have worn my dressy black shoes for prolonged periods of time. They're not particularly comfortable, but my word...do they look nice. I've got such a shine on them, that I can nearly see my reflection in the toes. And they're not even those plasticky shoes that you rent with a prom tux. But, like I said, they're not comfortable. The back of my heels have been killing me and after supper I've changed back into normal clothes both days. Tonight, however, I looked at the back of my right heel and, much to my dismay, I have a bloody cut with the makings a blister. And I have to wear my black shoes the next two days, plus all weekend because our band is playing a concert in Davenport, IA. GAAAH! Tomorrow I'm going to put a band-aid on it and hopefully it'll be ok.

In other news, I've done more research for this next column than ever before. Today I emailed 8 people to get information, including the Student Body President, the Dean of Students, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, one of my English professors, and the co-chair of the Honor Council. Yeah. I know. It better be worth the effort...especially because I know I'll need an extension and I have no idea when I'll have time to write it.

Anyway, that's the news from Corey's life. Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day--I know I did.

Good Day.

Well today went well. It was a sucess, I'd say. I got smiles from a lot of people and comments from people I swear I don't know. I'm going to go ahead a keep you in the dark one more day, just to keep ya interested....then I'll share. The 2YG took some pics, but I'm going to wait until the end of the week before posting them.

In other news, yet another column has been published. Of course, the one time I choose to write about non-Wartburg events...everybody and their mother writes a political column. Mine had the prominent place on the Op-Ed pages, but still. I like to be different. There just really isn't much to write about this week...although even as I type that, I just thought of something. Bingo. It's going to take a little research, but it might be ok.

In other news, for a while I've been forming a column in my mind about the Wartburg Board of Regents and the financial state of the college (we are seriously in debt) and finally I went to the President's Office and asked if I could get the contact info for the Board. The secretary asked me what I needed it for and as soon as she heard it was for the newspaper, pretty much all of my chances flew out the window. Apparently it's the policy of the board to recieve the questions through the President, discuss them, and then release a unified response through the President. So pretty much censorship. I wanted to talk to each board member, but that's not going to happen.

I expressed my angst to some non-journalists and they said I should be able to find the contact info anyway and go ahead and ask the questions. Well, the only way that'd work is if I didn't mention I wrote for the paper. Unfortunately, not only is that pretty much illegal, it's highly unethical. Although it'd be a GREAT column, it really isn't worth the punishment.

So right now my amazing, blow-out, end-of-the-year column is dead. I may have an idea for a replacement....but it just isn't as great as the other idea. Bummer.

Ok, I need to get up for class soon. Good day.

I have an idea for this week. It has absolutely nothing to do with everything. It's an exploration in isolation. It's an adventure without pressure. There will be questions with no answers. There will be answers with no questions.

In other words, it's one of those "just because" things you do with a smirk on your face, leaving everyone else wondering why and you can't answer why because you're smirking only because you don't know why either.

If I can get back into the good graces with the 2YG, (although I can communicate succinctly using written words, my oral communication occasionally lacks intelligence) there will be some pics on here later. Along with an explanation.

But for now, I'm going to leave you hanging like a snotcicle on the tip of the nose of a Minnesotan ice-fisherman sitting on a bucket, hunched over a murky hole of some forsaken expanse of a wind-swept lake, encircled by the foreboding hush of thousands of bare birch trees, hiding the mysteries of the Northwoods.

If there could be a writing version of Over Acting, the sentence above would be a prime example.

Thank you.
