Hello faithful readers. It's time for a little update....and I'm back from Vegas! Oh, are there stories to tell. Ok, well, actually, probably only two good ones that directly involve me. However...umm...I'm not going to post those online. I'd love to tell you over the phone if you want to hear them, but I really don't think entering them into public record would be a good idea. But yea, the trip was good and we all had a good time.

My week back at work was insane because of an inept co-worker, but that also made me able to reinforce how I can kick some serious researching and documentation ass when my back is against a deadline wall. It's good when I can pull through in situations like that so that when I make a stupid mistake with a client, the bosses know it was a fluke. Or something like that.

On the Led Zeppelin vinyl front, I was able to bring it down to my parent's place today and play it all the way through on both sides. Not one scratch. Not one skip. There was some crackling and popping in "Stairway to Heaven," but my dad thought it was most likely because the beginning of that song is so transparent. It probably happens on all songs, but you can't hear it because the guitars are louder. Good point, I thought. So yeah...that album was a huge find. I can't believe that it's almost 40 years old!

And on a slightly humerous side note, when I was starting to play the vinyl, I reassured my mom that she had heard most of the songs many times before. She maintained that she had never heard of Led Zeppelin. Uh yeah...turns out the many years of my bro's blasting the music made it so she could almost sing along. I win.

And on the beer front, I got a check from one of my aunt & uncles for my birthday to spend on "good beer" (they know how to go straight to my heart!) They did the same thing last year and I blew a part of it on a sixer that wasn't that good...then spent the rest on exotic pint bottles. This year I spent part of it on the aforementioned vinyl, and the rest I'm spending on exotic pint bottles. Last night I drank one, Moylan's Pale Ale, (California) and it was unbelievably good. For all of you on the west coast, get some. In a bar, in a pint bottle, or in a sixer if they even make them. It's worth the extra dunkets.

Tonight, however, I'm drinking a beer from Lithuania and I can't figure out what the name of it is. The word scrawled across the front is something like Bierjus, which looks suspiciously like the name for beer in Lithuanian (Do Lithuanians speak lithuanian? Is that even a language?) What ever it is called, though, I'm not a fan. It has 8% ABV, which is really too much for me. It's like the initial taste is good, and then you get the nasty shudder afterwards...kind of like what you get after doing a shot. Only for 16 oz's. Like doing 16 mild shots. Not a huge fan.....but you know what? If wasn't doing the year of beer, then I probably wouldn't have ever tried it. And that's what the year of beer is all about -- trying new beer no matter what.

Speaking of the year of beer, I feel like I may be back on track to perhaps finishing year two right on schedule. I only have about 7 more kinds of beer to try in the next 3 weeks. Definitely do-able. I think post-2YG and pre-J, I probably hit it a little too hard with the beer...since I took about a month and a half hiatus on the beer purchasing, and I'm on only a slightly aggressive schedule to finish on time. Ah well, such is life.

Cheers!
