I'm at the library right now because I was going to work on a paper/autobiography that's due tomorrow at noon. Technically i have it finished, but I wanted to add some details. So I open up the file I emailed myself from my computer in my room. There's only 6 pages there. WTF?! When I finished it on Friday and printed it out, it was 10 pages!!! ARGH!!! Hopefully it's still in a different email account....but these computers are stupid and won't all yahoo accounts to be opened, so now i have to go all the way back to my room. P-I-S-T!

I think I'm going to stop by the 2YG's room on the way back, though :-)

So tonight I was a judge for Wartburg's Battle of the Unsigned Artists. When I agreed to be a judge 2 months ago, I was super excited...but then tonight I really wasn't excited to do it at all.

The first "group" was a soloist. She was alright...but her band wasn't there, so I didn't give a very good score.

The next group was awful. Their guitarists were good, but the vocalist was unbelievably terrible...and the set player--there are no words. I've never really paid attention to the drummer in any band, but I noticed right away that this one sucked. Big Time. So then I started watching him and I saw that most of the time he was only playing with one hand. It was bad. So I gave that group a really bad score.

The next group was a jam band and they were all amazing except for the vocalist...which meant they got a subpar score for how good they really were.

The fourth group was a decent metal band, good guitar solos, but their original songs' lyrics were awful. I placed them third, and they actually got third in the competition.

The Fifth group was the first coherant band. The singer could actually SING. It really wasn't my type of music at all, but I had to give them props for sounding like a real band. I placed them second, and, once again, they actually got second.

The last group was a jazz combo. Their original song wasn't too spectacular and I was actually disappointed. Their cover, however, was awesome--Play that Funky Music. They closed the show so well I gave them the highest score...even though their score would've been lower if they were any other place in the show. They won the entire competition, including the crowd fav.

After that there was a V.I.P party for everyone involved and a guest. I brought the 2YG, of course. It was pretty lame at first. But then some people started doing Karoke and it started to pick up a bit. If I wasn't there with the 2YG, and if she wasn't having such a good time, I would've left in like 5 minutes. I really didn't have that great of a time, but I could tell she was enjoying herself so I kept my mouth shut.

And after THAT we went to a Latino Salsa party. The 2YG lives in a "Spanish Suite"--where her roommates are all either Spanish majors or their native language is Spanish. Anyway, her roommates were putting on the party in a multi-culural house on campus. Again, it really wasn't my scene, but the 2YG wanted to go and salsa dance...so I came. And I salsa danced. And it was fun. Really. I really did have a good time there.

That was my day. And pretty much my whole weekend thus far. I should've been doing homework, but I didn't. Meh. Tomorrow is pretty low-key. At 7 I have to watch a 3 hour movie for my Literature and Film course. That course meets once a week for 3.5 hours. I'm not sure why we didn't start the movie last class period, because we left 1.5 hours early. It was ridiculous. But whatever. The moral of the story is I'm really not looking forward to it, but I gotta go. AND GOSH DANGIT!!! I just remembered that I wanted to sneak in a Guinness to drink during the movie because it's all about this poor family in Ireland and the dad is an alcoholic and drinks too much Guinness (Angela's Ashes, in case you were wondering).

Alright. One of my roommates turned 21 tonight and threw a gianormous party. Side note--he's black. So I walked into our apt. about an hour ago and for the first time since I've been at Wartburg, I was the minority. I'd say Wartburg's entire African-American population, plus some, was in our room tonight. Wowzas.
