Good day.

Ok, first here's Last week's Column. It's a little bit ironic because I'm not going to give money back to the school myself, so I guess I could be called a hypocrit...but it was pretty much impossible to write against the issue when i actually have the facts. So it goes.

Here's This week's column. For all of you non-wartburg folk, Mr. Wartburg is a competition that is pretty much a spoof on Miss America. The point is pretty much to see 4 guys from each year in school (freshmen, soph, juniors, and seniors) make a fool of themselves and whoever has the most points at the end of the night wins. This year it was actually somewhat significant because it was the first time in the competition's history that a black guy won. Craziness.

In other news, I'm not sure if it's just this town or if it's all of Iowa, but there is a frighteningly large amount of crows on our campus. Sometimes when I'm walking back from work in the library, I'll look up at the tops of the trees and see literally hundreds of crows blanketing the trees. It's scary. It's creepy. Crows are evil. Just tonight I was walking back from the 2YG's room and a tree right next to me exploded and huge black mass flew away. I blocked out the moon. It was straight out of a book like The Dark is Rising. In fact, it may give me yet another "dark" story idea. I'm not sure what my problem is. I just wish I could put aside my weekly column writing for a little bit, so my mind can think creatively....instead it's constantly spinning a new way to look at the campus....and actually this next week I'm looking past the campus and writing about the wonderful George W. Bush. We'll see how that goes.

Man, last week was just a whirlwind week. I had crap due all over the place....and it wasn't getting done. I was supposed to have a column due Wednesday, but I had a speech early Thursday morn. to prepare for, so my column got shoved to the side...and then I realized that my idea was absolutely awful. I just kept on thinking how terrible it was as I was typing it, and finally I emailed my editor and was like "my column sucks big time, and I really don't want it to get published, so can I skip out this week?" Of course she said no, 'cause she was counting on me, but she gave me an extension...and I talked with some people, and I improved my idea and it was all good.

The speech was good as well, even though I found out literally 10 minutes before I had to go, that I couldn't use notecards. Great. So I had prepared with notes, and then had to wing-it. It nearly wasn't long enough, because I couldn't remember everything I was going to talk about, but I survived. Whatever.

Oh yea, and the reason why Wed. was so crazy is because the 2YG had several really important events to do that day, so I spent a good 3 hours with her keeping her calm and then just spending a little quality time with her...so I didn't get started on the speech until about 2 hours later than what I was planning on. AGH! But I had to do that because she went back home to South Dakota this weekend, so it was one of the few moments I had with her. And now it's the week again and she's way busy and I'm....whatever...but we won't see each other much. But it's ok, 'cause this Friday we're celebrating Valentine's Day...and without telling you ANY details, it's going to be amazing. Wowzas! As my brother would say, I dropped a few dunkets!

Anyway, tomorrow my newest column will be posted online and I'll provide the link to that one and my one from last week at the same time, for your reading enjoyment.

Also, here's an awesome pic of the 2YG and I from New Year's eve. A lot of you have seen this most likely, but I really like it...so here:
