Well, it has been brought to my attention yet again that I have neglected the blog. Let's see what has happened recently. Well, on Saturday morning I went down to Colo. Springs to my bro's place to spend the day and then go back to Denver on Sunday. Wow. That's all I can say, is WOW. It was so nice to get out of the cramped apartments and spend the weekend in an awesome house. I went out and drove the car around for a while and applied for one job. I should've applied for more, but I got lost and I didn't like driving my brother's car without any proof of insurence or registration....which I now have to take care of. But then I spent the rest of the day making some supper, watching movies, doing some minor house maintnence and just making sure the place looks good. Then I also got to sleep in his amazing bed and just all around enjoy the place. I'm really looking forward to the summer now and living out there. Before I was worried that I'd get really bored, but I doubt that now. YES!
This week at Westword is going to be another busy one. Technically speaking, I only have to intern on Tuesdays, Weds, and Thurs.....but today I ended up going in at 11:30, just because I new I had crap to get done. Plus I'll go in the other days, and then the editors were seriously bummed when they found out I won't be in on Friday because they have so much junk for me to do. So anyway, I was feelig bummed that I would be doing a lot of stuff this week and wouldn't have time to work on a couple of story ideas that I have. And right when I was going to leave work - I was hanging around because it was snowing outside and I wasn't looking forward to waiting for the bus in the crappy snow - one of the staff writers was like "Hey, Corey....feel like going out for a beer?" And I was like....yess....yesss I do! So we went out to a bar for a few pints and had a good talk. Anyway, long story short, he was like.....a lot of papers don't expect interns to do that much work....and obviously the editors aren't going to hold my hand or anything and feed me stories....so he thought it would be a really good idea to go above and beyond what they expect me to do and stay late for a few nights and get going on some of these story ideas in addition to what I'm doing during the normal day. And that was really a good point. So now I think I'm going to be working some long days from here on out, just so I can really take advantage of what I should be learning. Or something like that.
Anyway, in other news, Ann is officially out of the spectrum now. I took home her picture from my desk at work and am going to replace it with someone else's....who I'd love to talk about on here, but I doubt that that would be a good idea right now and so you'll just have to wait. But don't worry, I will tell all when the time comes. Alrighty then....I need to get ready for tomorrow....no phone call from my best friend back at Wartburg tonight, but I guess I'll live :-/
