It's the random little gifts that breaks the monotony of every day life.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a new place to get my haircut. It was kind of a big deal for me, because I've gone to the same salon in Apple Valley since we moved to Lakeville in 1998. Nearly 11 years now, though I did switch stylists when I grew out my hair. But since I moved to Minneapolis 1.5 years ago, I've been thinking it was a bit of a drag to drive all the way down to Apple Valley, even though I only get my hair cut 3-4 times a year.

So anyway, I tried out this new place by my work in the Warehouse district that J goes to as well. I got there a little early - my appointment was at 5:30 on a Friday, and I was sick of being in the office so I just got there early. Turns out I was the last customer of the evening, even though they didn't close until 6. And even though I was the last customer, there were still 4 other stylists there.

So I sit down, and my new Stylist, Andrea, starts checking out my hair, as I explain why haircuts make me nervous because my hair looks super long when its wet, but it gets half as long as it dries because it's so curly. And while she does her work, I'm having some pretty good conversation with every one in the salon, and they were asking about J, and such. It was a fun and loose atmosphere, ya know?

Somehow during the conversation, we got on the topic of beer and how they like to finish out the day with a drink. And then the conversation somehow landed on them offering me a beer. Well jeez. I can't pass up a beer, ya know? So I cracked a beer with the salon women. Then one beer turned into two. Just chillin sitting in a circle in the haircut chairs. Just chillin. It was crazy.
