Well tonight was definitely an interesting night. Who shows up at SA? None other than the infamous Ghetto Bowler. Totally by coincidence too...'cause he didn't know I had moved to a new location. So we talked for the better part of an hour, while I rang some people up...it was after 10, so it was pretty slow. Anyway, it comes up that he's going to a friend's house to go hang out with some buddies and invites me. Now, I maybe have met all of the people that were going to be there. But I doubt if they all remember me...and I've NEVER been in the same room with them all at once....so I really didn't feel the need to go. On the other hand, I probably would've just sat in my room like I always do after work...so I figured, what the heck? So I went over to this dude's house and hung-out with Ghetto Bowler's friends and had a pretty good time. Now the only problem is I'm still wide awake...normally I've wound down by now and am ready to go to bed.
In other news, literally, the gas station job just got a little more dangerous. Last night a gas station clerk at a store about 2 or 3 miles from mine (off of county road 42, in between Burnsville and Apple Valley) was found with a gun-shot wound to his head. Apparently he's still alive, so that's good. Tonight we had a brand-new overnight dude in training, though, and as the manager was explaining the incident, this guy looked like he was on the edge of tears. The 40-year-old-man looked at my manager and said like he was convincing himself "I'll be all right" I was embarressed for him. I mean, yeah...I'd NEVER work an overnight if I could help it. It's just always going to be dangerous. But then, working at a gas station is dangerous any time of the day. Working in any public place could be dangerous at any time of the day. Wasn't there a famous shooting in a McDonalds like 10 years ago? I think the gunner took out like 20 people. At any point in time, the wrong person could entire my store and that would be it. But you just don't think about it. There's nothing I could do to stop that person if they're determined to do something, so I don't worry. If you worry, then that's the end.
At any rate, that's the news from Lakeville. Where the women don't work, the men are pilots, and all the kids are spoiled brats.
