Well, I'm back. It's good to be back in MY room. At MY computer. Sleeping in MY bed. As much as I enjoyed using my brother's stuff....being back here is nice. So, my drive home from Colorado Springs didn't go quite as planned. 90% of it was uneventful and normal...except for getting stuck behind a bookmobile and waiting for a parade to get through a small town, nothing really happened until Iowa. I was about 10 miles out of Des Moines when I realized that I wasn't going to get into Waverly until really late, and that it would actually take me less time to just keep going home. So I decided to do that. My roommates were a little disappointed, but I told them I'd take another weekend to go down there. I got back to Lakeville at about midnight and I was not tired at all, despite having just spent 14.5 hours in the car...so I did the unthinkable: I filled up the gas tank and kept on going north. About half-way into that last leg of the trip, I realized how exhausted I really was. But I made myself keep going...and got into our resort in Park Rapids at about 4:30 a.m....and just about collapsed. 19 hours in the car? What was I thinking?!? But then I got to spend the whole day there and relax. I knew that if I had stayed in Lakeville, then I would've slept in late and made excuses to avoid traffic in the cities....and probably wouldn't have gotten there until like 7p.m.
It was beautiful as usual there. Some nice weather and some junky weather, but it was just nice being there. Late Sunday night my brother and I went out in onto the lake in a couple kyaks. The lake was so incredibly smooth....and the sky! My God, I've never seen that many stars in my life. You couldn't see them all on the shore, but when you got farther out on the lake, it was amazing.
But yeah, I'm back and now tomorrow I'm going out on the job trail once again. *sigh* If I wasn't so broke, I'd just give up...but after paying for all of that gas, I have zero money. More than if I'd flown, but still zero. Anywhoo...I think I'm going to write a little letter and then go to bed. Peace out.
