To get off of the school topic, I should mention what's going on at the homefront. I worked at good 'ol SA today from 7-3....it was rather boring, but I survived. It looks like I'll get in a good 40 hours of work during break, so that'll be a nice paycheck. Yesterday my brother and his fiance came down and we grilled and hung out. For all of you that don't live in Minnesota, we had monster storms all night....the whole state was under a Tornado watch. But, being a grilling family, we figured it was still safe to grill steaks. Well, about 20 minutes into our meal, we hear muffled screams coming from our backyard. Upon further investigation, my mom sees our neighbor from across the street frantically stomping out 2 foot flames that were burning in the wood chips around our house, and was spreading to the lawn. Well we quickly grabbed whatever we could to fill with water and ran out to help. I, unfortunately, was barefooted and as I ran around the side of the house carrying two buckets filled with water, I stepped on some embers. That hurt....but I was embarresed that I wasn't more careful, so I didn't say anything to anybody. So to make a short story shorter, we got it all out with minimul damage to our yard. Our neighbor said he was in his garage and saw smoke billowing out from behind our house. At first he thought it might have just been us grilling, but he thought it was too much smoke...so he ran across the street, and sure enough...our yard was on fire. So we thanked him for saving our yard....and actually, the way the wind was blowing and as dry as the grass was....he could've saved our house and the houses down wind from us. It was potentially a very bad situation. But we're all safe and happy.
Then, later in the evening, I went with my bro and his fiance back to their appartment in St. Louis Park to watch the T-Wolves, but we had just barely gotten on 35W when the storm hit. (Actually we were on the road when that Tornado was sighted just south of Lakeville) It wasn't so much the wind that was scary, but the rain was coming down so hard that we could literally not see a thing. So from County Road 50 to County Road 42, the rain came and we were forced to exit. We took refuge at the Burnsivlle Champs, off of 42 and watched the first half of the game. We were safe, still got to watch the game, my bro got to have a big mug of beer, I got to have.....*sigh*.....a lemonade....and it was all good. The only downside was that I didn't get back to Lakeville and in bed until nearly 1 a.m.....and I got up at 6 a.m. So the morning was a little rough.....much like tomorrow morning will be like, if I don't go to bed soon. So yea, peace out y'all.
