I have a scooter that I use to get around campus a little quicker. Yes I realize they are made for kids. Yes I realize they are made for kids 2 feet shorter than me. Yes I realize that I look silly and that there are people that laugh at me. But at the same time, pretty much everybody is used to it now. Professors strike up conversations with me about it....and I can get across campus super quick. So anyway, the other day I was cruising down the main sidewalk, going to band. Just like any other college campus, Wartburg has super tame squirrels all over the place. When I passed one, it apparently wanted to race because it ran along beside me....literally right next to me, running at the same speed I was rolling. It was pretty cool....until this stupid animal decided to cut me off and dart in front of the scooter. It Totally caught me off guard and I nearly ran the thing over! In order to dodge it, I had to swerve into the grass.....which immediatly stopped the scooter's momentum, but not mine. Thus throwing me forwards and causing me to land on my face. It was great. Or at least thats what everyone around me thought. I personally was rather embarressed and got back up and on my way as quickly as possible. I guess that is one of the dangers of a scooter rider. I scooter man, you might say.....or not.....
